B’NAI MITZVA

• Include date and synagogue of Bar/Bat Mitzva in the announcement (dates are not printed, but announcements will be run in the paper on the weekend of the event).

• Include geographical locations of relatives if they are living; deceased relatives must be preceded by “the late.”

• Quality photos can be submitted in any size, black and white or color (if you want photo returned, include a self-addressed stamped envelope).

• Digital photos can be attached to an e-mail as either a .jpg or a .tif file with a resolution of at least 200 ppi.

• There is a $10 fee for submitting a Bar/Bat Mitzva announcement with a photo for active AJW subscribers; for non-subscribers, the fee is $30 that includes a one-year subscription to the paper. If there is no photo included, there is no charge (although most Bar/Bat Mitzva announcements are printed with photos).

• Example: Alena Ann Simon, daughter of Kent Simon and Karen Gjerstad and sister of Jane, will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzva Saturday at Mount Zion Temple. She will also participate in Friday evening services.
